Meet your host
Welcome to MV Haus! I'm Lucian, your host, and I'm delighted to introduce myself as the proud builder and caretaker of this cozy mountain retreat.
Having spent the past seven years on-site, I've had the privilege of getting involved with every detail of MV Haus's construction, ensuring that it embodies the perfect blend of comfort and modern eco-friendly design. With the help of my Dad and some skilled local craftsmen, we've created a space that I'm truly proud of.
As a nature enthusiast and an avid mountain biker and snowboarder, I've enjoyed every moment crafting this cabin and its surroundings, all while cherishing the serenity of the Great Smoky Mountains.
If you have any questions or need recommendations for local attractions, outdoor adventures, or simply want to learn more about the story of MV Haus, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to make your stay as enjoyable and memorable as possible.
Thank you for choosing MV Haus for your getaway, and I can't wait to share the beauty and tranquility of Maggie Valley, NC, with you.
Warm regards, Lucian

House guide
Heating — radiant heating system
The cabin features three separate heating zones, each with its own thermostat:
- Zone 1: master bedroom and master bath
- Zone 2: living room, kitchen, dining room, and second bathroom
- Zone 3: the two additional bedrooms
Radiant heating warms the floors for consistent, efficient warmth. Please feel free to adjust the thermostats during your stay and return them to 69°F upon departure.
Indoor fireplace
The Duet wood fireplace (Supreme Fireplaces) is not a primary heat source — the radiant system is.
- Burn only dry, seasoned wood (moisture under 20%), 16–18 inch logs. Never burn coal, construction lumber, cardboard, trash, or use gasoline, kerosene, or lighter fluid.
- To start a fire: place two logs with about a 1 inch gap, a firestarter on top, and two more logs above. Push the left lever (Easy-Light) in, set the right lever (Burn Rate) as desired, light the firestarter, and close the door once it's lit (don't leave the door open more than 2 minutes).
- Keep the door closed while burning. Maximum 4 medium logs (about 30 lbs). Reload only once the wood has burned down to charcoal.
- Full operating instructions are in the printed manual in the house.
Entertainment
- Each of the three bedrooms has a Smart TV — log in with your own streaming credentials.
- Living room: projector with a 15-foot movie screen. HDMI 1 = Google Chromecast (cast from your phone), HDMI 2 = Roku.
- Sound: connect to the Yamaha receiver on the dining-area bookshelves via Bluetooth (it usually connects automatically; a button beneath the projector helps with pairing). Zone A covers the living room, Zone B the dining area.
- Issues? Call or text 678-230-3054.
Trash
Extra trash bags are under the kitchen sink. Please deposit all full bags in the rolling trash can behind the house.
Kitchen
Fully stocked — feel free to use anything. If a common item is missing, let us know ASAP and we'll have it replaced during your visit.
Washer and dryer
Located in the utility room. Please contact your host for access if needed.
Parking
Ample parking available on site.
Outdoor kitchen and firepit
Step into the outdoor kitchen area — a delightful al fresco escape for dining and relaxation.
- 36 inch Blackstone gas griddle with a sink and breakfast seating. Two propane tanks are stored under the griddle (one in use, one spare): turn the valve counter-clockwise without worrying about breaking it; switch to the spare if needed. If both are unusable, let us know and we'll swing by at your convenience.
- Outdoor fireplace for evening gatherings, with string lights overhead and a shade sail.
Outdoor lighting
String lights (patio & hot tub)
The string lights over the outdoor kitchen and the hot tub run on smart dimmer plugs — one for each side of the house. You'll find the plugs in the outdoor electrical outlets on the front of the house. Press the button once for on/off. Press and hold to dim. They're yours to enjoy — set whatever mood you like. If a strand is off when you arrive, just press its button.
Landscape lighting
The landscape lights are automatic — a dusk sensor turns them on at sunset, and they're currently set to switch off 4 hours after dusk. The control box is plugged into the outdoor outlet right outside the master bedroom patio door — no need to touch it. If you'd like the lights on all night instead, press the up-arrow button on the box until the display reads A (dusk-to-dawn mode). To go back to the 4-hour setting, press the down-arrow button until the display reads 4.
